Hi Kim, so nice to meet you! I’ve just read the piece on your site about your nomadic life – I was honestly almost moved to tears. I think the work you do is truly a gift from, and to, the Universe.
These sentences from you:
“It has been a spiritual experience for me. Every day brings a new miracle. I live in the state of amazement.”
“The places I’ve seen, the people I’ve met and the miracles I’ve experienced have been gifts. I’ve learned to let go of more than things.”
exactly express how it is for us – this deep discovery of endless miracles, endless synchronicity, endless letting go, endless returning to presence.
Thanks for commenting. I’ll send you an email.
Blessings

I read the interview and loved it. As someone approaching 50 it’s good to see that when it comes to being free, age (whatever that word means) is not a limiting factor. I have subscribed to your blog and I look forward to following your adventures.
I worked as a cardiac nurse for 22 years and realized that health care is a profession where you improve the health of others by ruining your own. On 12/12/12 I woke up and quit. They tried to kill me but I chose to live. It’s good to see that I am not alone.

Hello Paul, nice to meet you, and thanks for following. I hope you enjoy the stories of our journey, both inner and outer.
Congratulations on choosing life! 🙂 I love the date! *That* was no accident! No you’re not alone. I think there’s a growing number of people who are choosing life, and in doing that find they must choose a different way than living into the constraints of the old model.

Alison and Don,
Congratulations on a wonderful interview! The funny thing was that I went to Matt’s blog before I knew about your interview, and when I started reading I said, “That’s Alison and Don … that’s MY Alison and Don!” Woohoo!
I’m so happy for you. You’re an inspiration to all of us.
All the best, Terri

Thanks so much Sunshine! We have role models to inspire *us*. I actually travel with an old newspaper cutting that’s getting a bit torn and shredded now. It’s the story/photo of a ninety-something woman sky diving! And I havs a thumbnail on my desktop of another ninety yr old swimming at the beach. They inspire us.

those are beautiful stories, Alison. i also remember an elderly lady (cannot remember her age) who went back to school and got her a college degree. i think it was a law degree. she always wanted to finish college and age was not going to keep her from finishing!
take care, both of you ☺

Hi there…I find your blog very inspirational but I’m wondering too..how do you handle family at home? We are part of the boomers too, but also the sandwich generation..looking after our kids and elderly parents. Want to travel but are torn in so many directions. We’ll be much older by the time we can leave. Also, do you plan to go eventually remain in Canada (i.e. for health benefits…we’re Canadian too)? Thanks!

Just realised you asked some more questions here – we don’t have family at home – Don has one adult son and his family who live in Sweden, and I don’t have children. We have both been orphans for over ten years, my mother being the last of our parents to leave this world. Sometimes life makes you wait eh? Certainly you can’t do the kind of traveling we’re doing unless you’re willing to abandon everyone which I suspect you’re not. I encourage you to live the life you have, and let the travelling life come to you when the time is right. Your desire alone will bring it. It doesn’t matter what age you are, or even if you’re not as agile as you were when young. It’s an adventurous spirit that counts.

Hey Allison!
My name is Cliff Barre and my wife Tiffany and I are responsible green travelers and active writers for our Peace, Love, and Travel blog. I recently came across your blog and really enjoyed reading your interview on Nomadic Matt’s blog. As an older traveler myself, I love reading stories like yours.
I would love a chance to speak with your readers about the idea of Green Travel Tips and how it can help them become eco-friendly travelers and reduce their carbon footprint while traveling. I have some tips for before traveling, during traveling, and some green destinations to travel to.
If you think this topic, or any other for that matter, would be of interest to your readers, please let me know and I’ll start pulling it together.
I look forward to hearing back from you, thanks!
Sincerely,
Cliff

Hi Cliff, nice to meet you. Thanks for visiting our blog. I appreciate what you’re doing with regard to the environment and your concern for green travel, however articles from other bloggers is not something I would consider at this point. Our blog is simply the story of our lives as nomads and I wouldn’t wish to interrupt that flow. I hope you understand. Good luck with your ventures, and thanks for visiting.

Thank you so much. I have looked at your blog, read your story. It is you that are inspiring, a true hero for yourself and your child, one step at a time. I applaud you. I cannot believe your courage.
And yes what we do is certainly possible “in this world”, but not for you just yet I suspect. This is your time for your child, but later things will evolve and change. You’ll be amazed at what life will bring you.
