4 August 2021.
A visit to Pacheedaht Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island,
a cool windy day,
watching kids play
in that wild uninhibited way
they have,
when everything is fun and worth exploring
on a wild uninhabited beach.

Almost all creativity involves purposeful play. – Abraham Maslow
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but play is certainly the father. – Roger Von Oech
A child’s world is fresh and new and beautiful, full of wonder and excitement. – Rachel Carson

Lovely spot highlighted with wonderful photos. I really enjoyed this uplifting post, Alison. Seeing a Maslow quote always brings me back to university psychology classes where he figured prominently in the curriculum.

Thanks so much Caroline. I so enjoyed watching the kids on the beach – they are so free! I’m not that familiar with Maslow, but I liked this quote from him a lot.

Love these images – are they your granddaughters? Nothing like watching kids play in such a carefree way to take away the cares of the world.

Thanks so much Susan. They are not my granddaughters, just some kids I watched playing on the beach – so carefree, It was enchanting.
I never had any children by choice. Don has a son who has 5 kids – so 5 steps, but they live in Sweden so we’re not as close to them as we’d like to be. You now that gene that makes a woman maternal – I didn’t get that one 😂

I agree – people at the beach, especially kids, become much more uninhibited. It’s play time!
